2020 was a year no one could have ever expected.
Shut downs, quarantines, postponements. All of the brides affected by COVID-19 had a whole new territory to maneuver to still have their best day ever. A few couples postponed later in 2020, some postponed to 2021, and a select few wanted to get married on their date, no matter what. Smaller guest lists and drive-by receptions were the compromises made and we think it turned out perfect.
Now how do we try to plan a wedding during a global pandemic?
We don’t have all of the answers for you, but we thought it would help to give you some questions you can ask your venue when you’re booking a wedding during this unprecedented time.
*DISCLAIMER* The list below is simply a jumping off point to help you evaluate your venue options during this time. Whatever type of wedding you choose to have, do your due diligence to minimize risk, and always follow local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines. Please keep in mind that this is a fluid situation and things are subject to change. Be sure to give yourselves and your wedding vendors some grace.
What is the venue’s policy on postponement?
Are there fees involved with postponing?
If we are unable to postpone our wedding, what is your cancellation policy?
What do you require for deposit, and is it refundable or transferrable to a new date?
If we do have to reschedule, do you have a time limit in which we must reserve a date?
If we have to reschedule, do you offer weekday weddings?
Do you require event insurance?
How many total guests can you accommodate?
Do you offer elopement packages?
Will we be able to livestream the wedding?
We hope this helps you in your wedding planning. Just know: you are not alone, your vendors are here to help, and we want you to have your best day ever!
